About Gavin

Gavin’s journey into health and fitness began at the age of 19, when he first discovered dance. The discipline, strength, and creativity required for dance quickly ignited his passion for movement and the human body. In 2011, after just two years of training, Gavin moved to England to further his studies in dance. While there, he was introduced to Yoga and Pilates—two practice that complemented his dance training and sparked a lifelong commitment to health and wellness.

During his time in England, Gavin completed Yoga Teacher Training as well as comprehensive Pilates training, building a strong foundation in both practices. His education emphasized anatomy, physiology, injury prevention, and safe progression, giving him the tools to work effectively with people of all abilities. Alongside this, he expanded his skills in functional movement, flexibility, and conditioning, which would later shape his unique, well-rounded approach to fitness.

Taking time away from the fitness industry, Gavin worked in a major trauma unit within the hospital system. This experience gave him invaluable insight into the realities of injury, rehabilitation, and recovery. It also deepened his compassion and strengthened his ability to support individuals navigating both the physical and emotional challenges that come with trauma.

This time in healthcare enhanced Gavin’s approach as a trainer—allowing him to combine clinical understanding with his background in fitness, Pilates, Yoga, and rehabilitation. Today, he draws on that knowledge to help clients not only prevent injury but also recover safely and return to a healthier, more active way of living.

After relocating to New Zealand, Gavin continued to refine his expertise within the fitness industry, working with a wide range of clients—from beginners looking to build confidence to experienced athletes seeking to take their performance to the next level. He also developed additional skills in weight training, rehabilitation, and massage, ensuring he could provide a complete approach to health, well-being, and movement.

Today, Gavin is focused on creating a welcoming and supportive environment at Inspire 2b Active Studio. His mission is to help every client build confidence, improve physical and mental well-being, and develop a deeper understanding of their body. Gavin knows that showing up can often be the hardest step, but with the right guidance and encouragement, he believes anyone can find their passion for living a healthier, more active life - as he once did.
